This sweet boy holding my baby hand grew up to be a total badass. He travel the world, wrote books and magazine articles, led mega mountains expeditions and made fantastically witty comments on the regular. There were other accomplishments and accolades including maniacal skill on a foosball table. I’ve loved hearing the stories about him over the last few days from people all over the world who have felt his sparkle. I mainly knew him through a child’s eyes and he was always dynamic and larger than life. I’m flooded with memories of the smell of Hank’s cigars, loud televised soccer with Italian announcing and Tour De France which remind me of the times in the Coppollilo’s childhood home.
Our dear family friend died in a mountaineering accident in British Columbia last week. A brilliant light has faded. PeteRob and Cathy were big characters in my childhood.
RIP Robbie and much love to the Coppollilo family.
